The XRP Ledger processed 3,254 transactions in a single ledger, its highest count on record, according to XRPL validator Vet. Most of the transactions were tiny one-drop payments that Vet says look like throughput testing rather than a jump in the network's permanent capacity.
The XRP Ledger logged 3,254 transactions in one ledger, a new all-time high, XRPL validator Vet reported.
The bulk of the activity came from repeated, minimal transfers rather than a broad surge in network use. According to Vet, most of the transactions were payments of just one drop, the smallest unit of XRP. Vet said the pattern probably points to someone running a throughput test rather than genuine payment demand.
What the record actually means
The 3,254-transaction figure does not necessarily mean the XRP Ledger raised its permanent processing limit. Unlike Bitcoin, whose transaction capacity is fixed, XRPL runs on a soft transaction target that moves depending on how fast validators process transactions.
If a ledger packs in more transactions than the current target and still closes quickly, the network can raise the target, since that pace signals healthy consensus. But not every transaction carries the same weight on the network: the 3,254 simple payments are not equivalent to 3,254 complex transactions. According to Vet: "Basically not all transactions are equal in load footprint."
Upgrades moving through validator voting
The record comes as the network works through a batch of upgrades bundled in xrpld 3.3.0, released on Aug. 6. The release added features including BatchV1_1, ConfidentialTransfer, DynamicMPT, PermissionDelegationV1_1 and Sponsor, along with several protocol fixes.
BatchV1_1 is closest to reaching the support threshold needed for activation. As of Sept. 14, 27 of the network's 35 trusted validators were signaling support for the feature.
