The XRP Ledger is closing in on activating the BatchV1_1 amendment, with roughly 68% of validators already backing it. The upgrade needs to clear an 80% support threshold and hold it for two weeks straight before it can go live, so activation before the end of September remains possible but not guaranteed.
The XRP Ledger is nearing activation of the BatchV1_1 amendment, one of the network's most significant upgrades to date. An XRPL community member pointed out that roughly 68% of validators have now backed the amendment.
According to a community member on X: "Batch will unlock a lot of new use cases for the XRP ecosystem". XRPL validator Vet said builders have been waiting for the functionality for a long time, adding that it could let developers charge directly for services instead of allowing users to free ride.
The original Batch amendment was disabled earlier this year after a critical bug was discovered. Its replacement, BatchV1_1, was introduced in XRP Ledger software version 3.3.0, released on Aug. 6.
XRP Ledger transactions have historically been unable to combine separate ledger actions. However, the pending amendment will let developers package as many as eight transactions together inside a single transaction, defining how multiple on-ledger actions depend on one another and removing the need to build complicated infrastructure for some applications.
Support has to rise above the XRP Ledger's 80% validator threshold and stay there continuously for two weeks before the amendment can go live. If support drops back below that level, the two-week countdown resets.
