XRP

XRP's derivatives market is showing its heaviest sell pressure of the year, even as open interest rose and whale-sized orders coincided with a price rebound. The tug-of-war between bulls and bears comes as one commentator argues the token could reach $100 before the year ends.

XRP sell pressure hits a yearly high

Sell pressure in XRP's derivatives market has reached its highest point this year, and the timing is notable. Binance's net taker volume recently fell to -$96 million, the strongest selling push the market has seen this year.

Yet traders haven't stepped away. Binance open interest climbed about 14.8%, suggesting new positions are still opening even as sellers dominate. XRP, for its part, has recovered with strength from its latest lows.

Futures flow leans bearish underneath

The 90-day Taker CVD reading shows sell dominance, meaning more traders are hitting the sell side rather than waiting for buyers to come to them. That lines up with the pressure already visible in Binance's net taker volume.

But sellers aren't alone in the market. XRP's futures average order size showed large whale orders coinciding with the price rebound, and the futures volume bubble map climbed into the heating and overheating zone. Participation is picking up on both sides, though taker flow still skews toward sellers.

A bullish outsider view: $100 this year

Not every voice in the market is bearish. Crypto commentator Jake Claver said he "strongly agrees" that XRP will hit $100 this year, a call that stands far above the token's current price near $1.43. Claver made the remark during a panel discussion comparing XRP to the Canton Network's token, after originally being asked whether XRP could reach $100 within five years, by 2035.

He based the bullish stance on total addressable market, arguing XRP's exposure to global payments and derivatives markets gives it a larger opportunity than Canton, even if it only captures a portion of that space.

What comes next depends on who holds longer

Buyers still have support, but derivatives sellers have been pushing back hard. If that pressure keeps building, XRP may spend more time consolidating than rising.

On the other hand, the growing number of short positions carries its own risk for sellers. If XRP keeps holding up and buyers push the price higher, those shorts could get squeezed.
