Iran's Kharg Island, the terminal that handles most of the country's crude oil exports, has gone at least a week without loading a single tanker, according to a report from Bloomberg Markets. Satellite and shipping data show numerous tankers idle and queued offshore as the standstill continues.
The disruption comes as the US naval blockade on Iranian oil exports remains in force. Reimposed earlier this year, the blockade's continued enforcement points to heightened tension in the region, the report said.
Prediction-market odds for the blockade ending by August 31, 2026 have also shifted: they dropped from 48% to 33.5% over the past 24 hours, the report said, pointing to lowered expectations for a near-term resolution.
