Trump Media moved 2,628 BTC on Aug. 2, pushing two recently reported Bitcoin transfers within 3.43 BTC of the portion of its March treasury not pledged as note collateral. Wallet trackers cannot confirm whether the company actually relinquished control of the coins. Custody status, collateral terms, and undisclosed treasury activity could all still change the count.

Trump Media & Technology Group moved 2,628 BTC on Aug. 2, pushing the combined total of two recently reported Bitcoin transfers to within 3.43 BTC of the slice of its March holdings not pledged as note collateral.

That gap puts the transfer at the center of a question over what remains of the company's Bitcoin treasury once collateral is stripped out. But wallet data alone cannot prove the coins left the company's control.

March filing sets a 5,281.43 BTC baseline

Trump Media reported 9,542.16 BTC as of March 31. That figure included 4,260.73 BTC pledged as collateral against convertible notes, the filing said. Subtracting the two figures produces 5,281.43 BTC, though the company did not label that remainder liquid or unencumbered.

The same filing disclosed 2,000 BTC pledged under covered-call arrangements on 4,000 BTC. Those options carried a June 30 expiry date, and their status since then has not been disclosed.

Two transfers total 5,278 BTC

CryptoSlate previously reported that about 2,650 BTC moved from Trump Media-linked wallets on May 22 in two deposits to a Crypto.com-linked address. Lookonchain, a blockchain analytics account, then said on Aug. 2 that Trump Media appeared to have sold another 2,628 BTC for about $165.07 million.

Together, the two movements total 5,278 BTC. That leaves an arithmetic remainder of just 3.43 BTC against the 5,281.43 BTC March figure.

Trackers can't confirm the coins left Trump Media's control

The reconciliation only holds if the tracker attributions are correct, both transfers came from the March 31 residual, the company relinquished control of the coins, and no other purchases, sales, collateral changes, or custody reclassifications happened in between.

However, the Lookonchain post does not show trade execution, the final destination, or post-transfer control of the coins. Arkham Intelligence's Trump Media entity cluster is likewise an analytics-company attribution, not a corporate custody record.

Trump Media said in 2025 that Crypto.com and Anchorage Digital would provide custody for its Bitcoin treasury, so a Crypto.com-linked destination alone cannot distinguish a sale from a custody transfer. Interim CEO Kevin McGurn said on May 26 that treasury movements generally reflected account diversification for security and efforts to earn yield, without tying the explanation to specific coins or providing an updated Bitcoin count.

The filing-to-tracker comparison therefore answers only the arithmetic question: 3.43 BTC remains unmatched, leaving the treasury's true liquid balance dependent on a company or custodian reconciliation.
