Fundstrat's Tom Lee forecasts that Ethereum will exceed $5,000 before the year ends. Ether held above $2,500 support while analyst Ali Charts flagged a possible bullish setup toward $2,640.
Ethereum price held above $2,500 support as Bitcoin stayed above $83,000. Fundstrat's Tom Lee forecast Ethereum would exceed $5,000 before the year ends.
Lee sees a path to a new record
The BitMine chairman and co-founder outlined the forecast in a Coinage interview. Reaching $5,000 would require a gain of approximately 99.3%, with fewer than three months left in 2026.
The extended trading range, Lee said, is a foundation for a potential breakout. He argued that years of consolidation could support a larger advance once the cryptocurrency moves beyond previous highs.
CoinMarketCap records the previous peak near $4,954, reached in August 2025. Lee also linked Ethereum's potential gains to Bitcoin, projecting ETH around $7,500 if Bitcoin reaches $100,000.
Demand drivers that could help
A broader crypto market surge could strengthen investor demand, and Bitcoin breaking above $120,000 could inspire sentiment and capital rotation to ETH. Renewed spot Ethereum ETF inflows and corporate purchases could also support stronger institutional demand.
Ethereum's roadmap targets Glamsterdam for Q4 2026, with changes designed to improve scalability and efficiency.
More staking may lead to lower readily tradable supply, and higher network activity may lead to higher ETH burning. If the CLARITY Act passes, clearer U.S. crypto regulations could encourage greater institutional participation.
Analyst eyes $2,640 near term
Analyst Ali Charts said ETH could rise toward $2,640 if it sustains a close above $2,520. He identified a possible Adam and Eve bottoming pattern on Ethereum's 10-minute timeframe.
The $2,520 neckline remains the key resistance level for confirming a bullish breakout. The target sits $120 above it, a potential gain of roughly 4.8%, but the setup is not confirmed until Ethereum holds strongly above that level.
