Tether is bringing its Hadron tokenization platform to Saudi Arabia, starting with institutional-grade real estate assets. The stablecoin issuer is partnering with Saudi partner First Data and fintech firm BKN301, with the framework built to align with Islamic finance principles. The deal extends a build-out that already includes Tether's $2.6 billion tokenized gold offering, XAUT.
The stablecoin issuer is extending its push into real-world asset tokenization into Saudi Arabia, targeting institutional-grade real estate first. The company said Thursday that its Hadron platform will provide the technology to issue and manage the tokenized properties for institutional investors. The deal gives Tether a foothold in a Gulf market pushing to diversify its economy under Vision 2030.
Splitting the roles
First Data will act as issuer and market operator for the tokenized assets. BKN301, meanwhile, connects the platform with banking and compliance systems.
Beyond those roles, Hadron itself handles issuance, management, compliance and lifecycle administration of the tokenized assets, Crypto Briefing reported. The framework is also designed so property transfers and fractionalization align with Islamic finance principles.
Saudi Arabia's tokenization groundwork
Saudi Arabia had already been laying tokenization groundwork before Tether's arrival. The kingdom's Real Estate General Authority and Real Estate Registry launched a nationwide real estate tokenization infrastructure in November 2025. Pilot projects from companies including droppRWA and RAFAL Real Estate had been running since early 2025, testing whether blockchain-based property transactions could work under Saudi regulations.
Part of a broader tokenization push
Banks and asset managers have increasingly turned to tokenization to represent traditional assets such as money market funds, private credit, real estate and equities on blockchains. Tether launched Hadron in 2024 to simplify asset tokenization and is also the issuer of XAUT, the largest tokenized gold offering at $2.6 billion. Citi has projected the tokenized securities market could reach $5.5 trillion by 2030.
Vision 2030 makes Saudi Arabia an ideal proving ground for Hadron, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said in a statement.
