Tesla registrations climbed across several European markets in September, with France, Norway and Sweden all posting year-over-year gains. The increase extends a rebound in Tesla's regional sales after two years of declines, though data from Britain and Germany is still due this week.
New Tesla registrations rose in multiple European countries in September, extending a recovery in the automaker's regional sales. Registrations, used as a proxy for sales, rose 61.9% in France, 2.2% in Norway and 38.4% in Sweden from a year earlier, according to data released Thursday by French car body PFA, Norway's data compiler OFV and Mobility Sweden.
A broader rebound takes shape
The September gains add to signs of a wider Tesla recovery in Europe after two years of declining sales. The European Automobile Manufacturers' Association reported that Tesla registrations across the European Union, Britain and the European Free Trade Association rose 43.3% between January and August, outpacing the broader battery-electric vehicle market, which grew 38.8% over the same period.
Several factors have supported the rebound. Tesla's recovery has been helped by easier year-ago comparisons, higher fuel prices, government incentives and growing consumer interest in electric vehicles.
Bigger markets still to report
