Sui's stablecoin-funded buyback programme has purchased roughly 317,500 SUI since it began, but the scale still falls well short of moving the token's price or supply. SUI holds near $0.69 after again defending the $0.65 support zone, with $0.75 marking the next resistance test.
Sui traded near $0.69 on 3 August after once again holding support around $0.65, as the Sui Foundation expands its buyback programme. The purchases keep growing, but their current scale remains too small to meaningfully affect SUI's circulating supply or trading activity.
Stablecoin yield funds the buyback
The programme has generated approximately $2.2 million in revenue so far this year, including estimated rewards for the current month. It uses yield generated from Sui's growing stablecoin ecosystem to purchase SUI on the open market.
Stablecoin balances have reached approximately $443.1 million, spread across 3.6 million holding addresses, and recent buybacks have averaged around $6,000 per day. The Foundation bought 8,800 SUI on 1 August and another 8,700 SUI on 2 August, both near $0.69 apiece. Since the programme began, it has acquired approximately 317,500 SUI in total — but unlike a traditional buyback-and-burn model, those tokens return to the ecosystem rather than being destroyed, so total supply stays unchanged.
Buyback impact stays modest
Despite steady revenue, the programme's market effect remains limited. The 317,500 SUI acquired so far equals only around 0.008% of the network's approximately 4.07 billion circulating supply. The typical $6,000 daily purchase also looks small next to SUI's roughly $100 million in daily trading volume. That suggests the programme works more as a long-term capital-allocation strategy than a short-term price support mechanism.
Can SUI reclaim $0.75?
Technically, $0.65-$0.66 remains the key support zone, an area SUI has repeatedly defended since June, making it the most important level in the current trading range. Visible-range volume analysis identifies $0.74-$0.76 as the strongest nearby resistance, putting $0.75 at the center of the next major test.
Market participation still favors sellers: down-volume across the visible range totalled 21.26 million SUI, against 19.32 million SUI in up-volume. Meanwhile, the Chaikin Money Flow indicator stayed slightly negative at -0.04, suggesting capital outflows continue to outweigh accumulation.
Holding that support level preserves the current trading range, while a decisive move above the resistance zone, paired with stronger volume and a positive money-flow reading, would improve the near-term outlook. Losing the level instead raises the risk of another leg lower.
