SUI gained about 54% over four weeks through Oct. 10, far outpacing bitcoin and ether. The token pulled back over the latest week, according to The Defiant.
The token traded at about $1.11 at 6:50 p.m. ET, up from $0.7218 at 6 p.m. ET on Sept. 12, per CoinGecko. Over the same window, The Defiant's calculation puts bitcoin's gain at 7.3% and ether's decline at 0.8%.
DeFi liquidity grows more slowly than the price
Sui's DeFi liquidity expanded too, but by less. DefiLlama data show dollar-denominated total value locked rising from $458.2 million to $529.1 million, or about 15.5%. Those liquidity measures rose alongside SUI, but they do not establish what drove its price.
Dollar-pegged stablecoins on the network grew from $473.5 million to $500.9 million, about 5.8%, in the Sept. 12 and Oct. 10 daily snapshots. The stablecoin series measures the circulating value of those tokens, not trading activity.
Sharp reversals and uneven trading
The four-week return masks reversals. CoinGecko's sampled history recorded SUI at roughly $1.27 on Sept. 27 and about $1.03 on Oct. 8, before the recovery to around $1.11. Its latest seven-day change was a decline of about 5.2%.
Trading activity also fluctuated. DefiLlama recorded $114.8 million of decentralized-exchange trading on Sept. 21, compared with $34.4 million on Oct. 9. The four-week gain therefore did not coincide with uninterrupted growth in daily trading.
Samsung Wallet's planned USDC support on Sui expands access to the network's stablecoin infrastructure. But the Sui Foundation says, as The Defiant reports, Samsung Wallet will not support SUI at launch, and users will not need to hold it to send USDC.
