S&P 500 futures edged up ahead of Wednesday's U.S. open, while Dow futures slipped. PayPal led premarket gainers with a 20.3% jump, and Pentair sank 22.1%.
S&P 500 futures rose 0.12% with roughly two hours to go before U.S. stock markets opened on Wednesday for the benchmark index. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.02%, while Cboe Volatility Index futures dropped 3.46%.
Several individual names moved before the bell. PayPal Holdings jumped 20.3%, and Elanco Animal Health added 7.6%. Karman Holdings, BlackRock, and Onto Innovation each posted gains of at least 5%.
On the downside, in early trading, Pentair fell 22.1% and Elevance Health dropped 7.6%.
Across other markets, Brent crude oil futures rose 0.74% while gold futures fell 0.84%. Bitcoin climbed 0.12% to $64,607, and the 10-Year Treasury yield rose to 4.612%.
The premarket move followed a mixed overnight session. In the previous regular session, the S&P 500 and the Dow rose 0.38% and 0.02%, respectively. In Asia, Japan's Nikkei 225 gained 1.49% while China's Shanghai Composite eased 0.29%, and in Europe the FTSE 100 slipped 0.28% from the previous close.
