Saudi Arabia has extended the suspension of operations at Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport after Houthi attacks. Separately, the Saudi-led coalition says it destroyed a Houthi ballistic missile aimed at the capital.
Saudi Arabia has prolonged the suspension of operations at Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport while authorities carry out safety inspections. The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) announced the extension following recent attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi movement.
Flight operations remain halted, and diversions and cancellations are affecting numerous travelers. The Houthi attacks previously caused significant casualties and infrastructure damage, which prompted the extensive safety assessments.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by Yemen's Houthi movement at Riyadh. According to the coalition, the missile was neutralized before it could reach the capital, although reports of explosions and aerial-threat warnings were noted.
Prediction-market pricing suggests heightened security concerns. A market on a nationwide Saudi airspace closure shows 7.5% YES for its nearer-term contract and 17.5% YES for January 1, 2027. A second report put the January 1, 2027 contract at 18.5%.
The source says observers should monitor announcements from GACA and Saudi Air Navigation Services for any escalation in security measures.
