Samsung is adding Solana-based stablecoin payments to 82 million Galaxy phones in the U.S., letting users send USDC across borders through Samsung Wallet without a separate crypto app. Coinbase will custody the funds through Coinbase Prime, and the feature goes live the last week of October 2026.
Samsung is bringing Solana-based stablecoin payments to 82 million Galaxy phones in the U.S., according to an announcement from the Solana Foundation. The feature lets users send USDC across borders directly through Samsung Wallet, without downloading a separate crypto app.
Feature goes live in October
The cross-border payments feature launches the last week of October 2026. It runs on Solana's blockchain infrastructure in the background, with fiat on- and off-ramps built into the app so users can swap between stablecoins and local currency.
Eligible users can send USDC to compatible crypto wallets without transfer fees from Samsung, though sending funds to bank accounts in over 60 countries carries fees. The rollout requires eligibility checks and ID verification.
Coinbase to custody the funds
Samsung is also partnering with Coinbase and Bastion to provide stablecoin custody and payment infrastructure, with USDC held in Coinbase Prime. Samsung is integrating the Sui blockchain for its stablecoin expansion.
Separately, Coinbase said it will power the stablecoin experience inside Samsung Wallet, making USDC the default dollar stablecoin when users add funds to their balance. Users will be able to send USDC to contacts without entering long wallet addresses, and tap to pay in stores, with Coinbase converting USDC into the merchant's local currency.
Stablecoin activity keeps climbing
The integration arrives amid a boom in stablecoins on Solana. Per the Solana Foundation, stablecoin supply on the network is up almost 20% in the last 12 months. The network has also seen more than $5.25 trillion in stablecoin transaction volume so far in 2026.
Coinbase separately said USDC circulation grew 72% in 2025 to more than $75 billion. The number of wallets holding USDC also rose 59% to nearly 7 million.
Samsung has built on blockchain features since 2019's Blockchain Keystore on the Galaxy S10, and it added Samsung Pay as a payment option on Coinbase in July 2025.
