The MOEX Russia Index closed unchanged on Saturday even as advancers outnumbered decliners on the Moscow Stock Exchange. Magnit and Tatneft preferred shares led the gainers, while AFK Sistema and Ozon slipped, with Ozon touching a three-year low. Gold, oil and the ruble also moved on the session.
The MOEX Russia Index finished the session unchanged at 0.00%, while advancers outnumbered decliners 153 to 73, with 20 stocks unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
Magnit and Tatneft lead the gainers
Magnit PJSC (MCX:MGNT) added 1.70%, or 25.50 points, to close at 1,528.00. Tatneft's preferred shares (MCX:TATN_p) rose 1.50%, or 8.00 points, to 540.30 in late trade.
On the other side of the board, AFK Sistema PJSC (MCX:AFKS) fell 0.78%, or 0.06 points, to 7.34 at the close. Ozon (MCX:OZON) declined 0.69%, or 15.00 points, to 2,174.00. The move pushed the stock to a three-year low. Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank PAO (MCX:CBOM) was down 0.60%, or 0.06 points, to 9.69.
Volatility, currencies and commodities move alongside stocks
The Russian Volatility Index, which tracks implied volatility on MOEX Russia Index options, held unchanged at 47.81. In currencies, USD/RUB slipped 0.19% to 86.14, while EUR/RUB fell 0.78% to 99.77. The US Dollar Index Futures, by contrast, rose 0.55% to 99.64.
Commodities were mixed. Gold futures for December delivery dropped 3.43%, or 159.90 points, to $4,504.10 a troy ounce. Crude oil for October delivery fell 0.11%, or 0.09 points, to $83.44 a barrel. The December Brent contract fell 0.27%, or 0.24 points, to $88.28 a barrel.
