Robinhood Chain's gas fees jumped 82-fold in 11 days, hitting $4.45 million on Sept. 2 and topping every other blockchain that day. Memecoin launch activity pushed the network's base fee far above its price floor, even as Robinhood keeps covering the cost for its own wallet users through Sept. 29.

Robinhood Chain collected more in gas fees over 24 hours than any other blockchain, after memecoin launch activity pushed the two-month-old network's base fee far above the minimum price its contracts allow. Users paid $4.45 million in gas on Sept. 2, up 18.8% from the prior day and 82 times the $54,254 paid on Aug. 22, according to DefiLlama. Canton ranked second that day at $1.69 million, while Robinhood Chain has taken $12.44 million over seven days since its July 1 mainnet launch.

Base fee breaks its gwei floor

The chain enforces a minimum gas price of 0.02 gwei, and the base fee held there on a median basis through Aug. 23. However, it has stayed above that floor every day since Aug. 24, and the median base fee reached 0.467 gwei over the 24 hours to Sept. 3, 23 times the floor, against 0.02 gwei on Arbitrum One and 0.005 gwei on Base. As a result, execution gas on an average transaction rose from under a cent to about $0.32.

Robinhood absorbs the cost until Sept. 29

Customers swapping inside the Robinhood Wallet app are paying none of this. Robinhood covers network fees on swaps above $0.50, with, according to its support page: "no additional caps, limits, or frequency restrictions". That offer runs through 11:59 PM EST on Sept. 29, 2026, after which wallet users would face the current rate unless Robinhood extends it.

Pons drives the load, gas takes a bigger cut

Pons V2, a launchpad unique to Robinhood Chain, took $6.09 million in fees over the past 24 hours versus $6.65 million for Uniswap V4 on the chain. Gas has gone from 2.5% of all fees paid on the chain on Aug. 22 to 23.3% of the $19.12 million paid on Sept. 2.

Stock tokens keep pulling in activity

The load builds on Robinhood's broader push into tokenized equities. It reached 862,800 holders of tokenized stocks in under two months, narrowly ahead of Binance bStocks' 827,200. Those stock tokens have generated $3 billion in DEX volume within 63 days, pulling daily Uniswap volume on the chain from roughly $500 million in late August to $1.4 billion by early September.
