Pump.fun ended its temporary 4x referral boost, cutting referrers' share of platform fees to 37.5%. According to The Defiant's calculation, creators who recruit traders will earn 62.5% less from the same eligible fees. The platform says it will keep allocating 100% of app revenue to rewards.
Pump.fun said on Nov. 1 that it has ended its temporary 4x referral boost. Referrers now receive 37.5% of the platform fees paid by traders they recruit to the app.
Referrers lose 62.5% of income from the same fees
During the promotion, referrers received 100% of those platform fees. The reset means creators will earn 62.5% less referral income from the same amount of eligible fees, according to The Defiant's calculation.
Pump.fun will direct the other 62.5% of revenue to the Callout Rewards pot and in-app incentives. According to the company, it will continue to allocate 100% of app revenue to rewards. It said: "Referrers will now earn 1.5x rewards."
Creator Program and the $30 million payout tally
The change comes two days after Pump.fun announced its Creator Program, which rewards content creators for bringing new traders to the app. Participants receive a referral code and dashboard and earn rewards from traders they refer. The underlying 4x promotion began on Oct. 16, before the Creator Program announcement.
Pump.fun put cumulative reward payouts at $30 million in its Nov. 1 statement. On Oct. 16, the company had said it had spent nearly $20 million over two months rewarding users through Callout Rewards. The latest statement does not break the $30 million tally down between referral payments, Callout Rewards and other incentives.
A $100,000 contest starts Nov. 2
Separately, the Creator Program's Oct. 30 competition announcement schedules a $100,000 contest to start on Nov. 2 at 9 a.m. ET. The five creators whose referrals generate the most trading volume over two weeks will win prizes, with $50,000 going to the winner.
