Nvidia said Lenovo and Acer will launch the first Windows PCs built on its RTX Spark chip in October, extending the chipmaker's push to bring AI processing directly onto laptops and desktops. The launch follows Nvidia's June partnership with Microsoft to redesign the PC for the AI era.

Nvidia said Thursday that Lenovo and Acer will launch the first Windows PCs powered by its RTX Spark chip in October, as the chip giant pushes to bring AI capabilities directly to laptops and desktop computers.

Acer and Lenovo join a growing list of manufacturers launching systems powered by the RTX Spark chip, which combines a Blackwell graphics processor with a Grace central processor.

Nvidia unveiled RTX Spark in June as part of a partnership with Microsoft. According to Reuters: "reinvent the PC" describes the goal of the three-year collaboration between the companies. Taiwan's MediaTek helped develop the chip.

Tech giants increasingly push on-device AI to cut the cost of cloud-based services, while improving privacy and responsiveness by processing tasks locally on users' devices. Apple last month refreshed its Mac mini and Mac Studio desktops with its latest M-series chips, saying the systems can run larger AI models and autonomous AI agents locally.

Nvidia shares traded at $229.88, up 2.44%, on volume of 87.04 million shares.
