Nvidia reports fiscal second-quarter results Wednesday after the close, with analysts expecting revenue to roughly double from a year ago on strong data-center demand. The report lands alongside a new financing push that could unlock more than $500 billion for customers buying Nvidia hardware.

Nvidia earnings loom as datacenter demand takes center stage

Nvidia's fiscal second-quarter results are the marquee event of the trading week, due after the closing bell. According to LSEG data cited by Reuters, Nvidia's quarterly revenue is seen doubling from a year ago to $92.18 billion, which would mark its fastest growth rate in seven quarters.

Investors will also watch for guidance on how fast customers shift from current-generation Blackwell chips to the newer Vera Rubin processors. Concerns have swirled around the sustainability of AI infrastructure spending after several of Nvidia's megacap customers flagged pressure on free cash flow in their own recent earnings reports. As a result, any commentary Nvidia offers on these trends could shape the AI narrative for months to come.

A new $500 billion financing platform widens the customer base

Ahead of earnings, Nvidia also announced a partnership with six financial institutions — Apollo Global, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs, and KKR — to mobilize more than $500 billion in capital for AI infrastructure, with Nvidia itself potentially backstopping up to $125 billion, or 25% of deals.

The platforms are designed to help smaller enterprises and AI labs afford Nvidia systems, extending the company's addressable market. CEO Jensen Huang said the platforms will help customers access scarce compute, describing the goal as "a new class of productive, investable infrastructure: AI factories."

Inflation data adds to the backdrop

Nvidia's report arrives just before the Commerce Department's July personal consumption expenditures index. Core PCE is expected to accelerate to 0.2% month-on-month, with the annual rate holding at 3.3%, a gauge the Federal Reserve watches closely when weighing inflation and interest-rate decisions.

Shares of Nvidia traded around $213.05, up 2.19% on the day. Among 67 Wall Street analysts tracked by The Wall Street Journal, the median 12-month price target stands at $300 a share, implying 44% upside from the stock's recent level.
