Three House committee chairs have asked Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to brief Congress on his interactions with an executive at customer Megaspeed. Financial Times excerpts describe a reported memo alleging a romantic relationship, which has not been publicly proven. Nvidia calls the contacts ordinary customer business.
Congress is seeking answers about Nvidia's defenses against espionage after Financial Times reporting described an intelligence-based memo alleging a romantic relationship between Huang and Alice Huang, an executive at Singapore-based Nvidia customer Megaspeed.
FT excerpts shared by @AsiaLens on November 7 report that US intelligence believes Alice Huang was recruited by China's Ministry of State Security, citing people familiar with the matter.
What the reported memo alleges
According to the same excerpts, US officials wrote the memo earlier in 2026 using information obtained by American intelligence. It reached a small group of senior US officials shortly before President Donald Trump traveled to Beijing for a summit with Xi Jinping.
However, the memo itself is not public, and its exact date and authoring agency are not established. The reported assessment and relationship allegation have not been publicly proven.
House chairs ask for a closed-door briefing
Brian Mast, John Moolenaar and Rick Crawford, who chair the Foreign Affairs, China Select and Intelligence committees, respectively, signed a November 4 letter requesting a joint, closed-door briefing on Huang's interactions with Alice Huang and Nvidia's safeguards against foreign espionage. The request, published on November 5, predates the FT excerpts.
The chairs asked for a November 18 briefing and want Huang to accept or propose another congressional session date by November 11. CNBC reported that Nvidia had not directly confirmed attendance when asked on November 5.
Nvidia says it shares no classified information
Nvidia told CNBC on November 5 that regional cloud customers receive routine business information rather than sensitive trade secrets or information relevant to national security. The company also said Huang's meetings with customer executives were a normal part of his job.
In a later Bloomberg report, Nvidia said: "We neither have nor share classified information with customers." Megaspeed belongs to Nvidia's cloud partner network, buying equipment and renting computing power to AI developers, according to Bloomberg.
Huang's next deadline is November 11: accept the proposed briefing or offer another date.
