Michael Saylor posted "We're ₿ack" on X alongside a chart of Strategy's bitcoin buying history, reviving speculation that the company may resume purchases after a pause. The message follows a two-month stretch without an announced acquisition, during which Strategy rebuilt its dollar reserves and launched a new USD Cash program. Some investors expect a fresh purchase announcement, while others say the post simply reflects Strategy's bitcoin position turning profitable again.
Strategy co-founder and Executive Chairman Michael Saylor posted a cryptic two-word message on X, alongside a chart showing the company's more than 110 bitcoin purchases made over the past six years. According to Saylor's post: "We're ₿ack." Most replies to the post speculated that the firm has resumed its bitcoin accumulation after a pause.
A pause since June
The company's latest announced bitcoin purchase was completed in the week of June 15-21, with the acquisition disclosed on June 22. Strategy then paused its buying strategy for the following two months and even announced a couple of sales. It instead focused on rebuilding its dollar reserve, which climbed above $6.5 billion last week after a series of moves.
Part of that shift came through a new program called USD Cash, which now holds $1.59 billion alongside the company's regular reserve of $5.1 billion. Strategy also continued repurchasing its STRC preferred shares, which had slumped from their $100 par value to $75 a few months ago before recovering to over $97 last week.
Holdings and a recovering price
Separately, Strategy's most recent SEC filing showed the company holding 840,447 BTC, acquired for $63.36 billion at an average price of $75,385 per bitcoin, including fees and expenses. Saylor's post also followed a bitcoin price recovery: the asset climbed from around $65,000 on August 19 to above $75,000 by August 21, then touched roughly $81,000 on August 27 before trading near $79,000 as of August 30.
Some users on X argued that Saylor's message referred to the company's position turning green rather than a new purchase. Others still expect a purchase announcement on Monday.
