MEXC is winding down services for users linked to France, with a phased schedule that ends in a withdrawal cutoff in March 2027. Separately, Brazil's Oct. 30 deadline applies to license applications, and whether MEXC has filed remains unconfirmed.
Crypto exchange MEXC is ending new registrations for users linked to France and setting a phased schedule for trading restrictions, automatic position closures and a final withdrawal cutoff in March 2027. The first group of customers must act by Nov. 17, 2026, and restrictions begin the next day.
MEXC cited regulatory compliance in its French exit notice and said affected customers would receive individual batch assignments by email. The exchange also acknowledges that it holds no authorization under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, or MiCA.
French accounts face four batches
MEXC's notice sets action deadlines of Nov. 17, Dec. 9 and Dec. 30, 2026, and Jan. 21, 2027, each at 23:59 UTC+1. After each deadline, users can still adjust margin, reduce or close positions, repay loans and withdraw assets.
However, MEXC will close any open positions automatically at midnight on Jan. 22, 2027, UTC+1. The exchange's FAQ warns that closures and settlement may result in losses or fees.
Next, accounts enter withdrawal-only mode at midnight on Jan. 25, and withdrawals close at midnight on March 5. MEXC says assets left afterward will move to a regulated custodian, with its identity and claim arrangements to be announced separately.
Meanwhile, MEXC says it has arranged optional referrals to EU-regulated trading platforms. Accounts and assets will not migrate automatically, so customers must complete onboarding with a new provider and transfer their assets themselves.
Brazil's deadline is for applications
Brazil's Oct. 30 deadline is for applications, not a date by which every existing crypto provider must already hold a license. Under Article 88 of the central bank's Resolution 520, existing providers that apply on time may continue their services until the authorization process concludes.
Providers that fail to apply on time must cease crypto services within 30 days after the filing deadline. That rule does not establish a MEXC-specific withdrawal deadline.
A separate banking restriction takes effect Nov. 6. It bars central-bank-regulated institutions from conducting or facilitating crypto-market operations with unauthorized providers, except through arrangements the rules expressly permit.
