Delegates at the London Bullion Market Association's annual gathering in Sorrento, Italy predicted gold prices will reach $5,013 per troy ounce within the next 12 months, up from the current level of $4,170. The forecast was delivered Tuesday.
Gold has declined 3% so far this year as expectations for prolonged higher interest rates persist amid the Iran war. That pullback follows an exceptional run: the metal surged 64% in 2025, its largest annual gain since 1979, and touched a record high of $5,595 per ounce in January. At last year's conference, delegates had forecast gold would trade around $4,980 by now.
The conference poll also projected silver prices would climb to $97 per ounce within a year from approximately $61 on Tuesday. Silver has dropped 14% so far this year following a 147% rally in 2025.
Platinum and palladium round out the survey. The results showed platinum prices are expected to rise to $1,914 per ounce from the current $1,706, while palladium is forecast to increase to $1,415 from around $1,174. Both metals have fallen this year, with platinum down 17% and palladium down 28%.
