The EU Aviation Safety Agency narrowed its Persian Gulf airspace warning on Monday, now telling airlines to avoid only Gulf waters within Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE rather than the countries' full airspace. The update came hours after the U.S. and Iran resumed hostilities for the first time since late July, and it leaves broader restrictions over Iran, Iraq and Lebanon in place until the end of September.

EASA narrowed its Persian Gulf airspace advisory on Monday, telling carriers to avoid only the Gulf waters within Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE through September 30. Previously, the agency had recommended avoiding the entire airspace of those four countries.

A narrower but still active warning

The update came hours after the U.S. and Iran resumed hostilities for the first time since late July. EASA said risk over Persian Gulf waters remains high, though flights needed for arrivals and departures within the affected flight information regions may proceed with proper safety measures.

Operators must still exercise caution over the land territory of the four Gulf states, EASA added. The agency also advised airlines against operating over Gulf of Oman waters within Oman's Muscat flight information region.

Jordan cleared, other zones stay restricted

EASA lifted its earlier recommendation against Jordanian airspace, though it still advises caution there through September 30. The agency extended its recommendation that airlines avoid the airspace of Iran, Iraq and Lebanon until the end of September.

Flights to or from Beirut remain permitted if the approach starts from the sea or the departure ends over the sea.
