The wallet tied to the Cysic bridge exploit moved about $744,000 in ETH and BNB into Tornado Cash after the Cysic Foundation offered a 10% bounty for returned funds. The foundation had asked for 275.872 ETH back.
The address linked to the Cysic exploit sent about $744,000 in cryptocurrencies to Tornado Cash after the Cysic Foundation offered the attacker a 10% recovery bounty. Blockchain security company PeckShield reported the transfer.
According to PeckShield, the address transferred 300 Ether (ETH) and 30.4 BNB to the crypto mixer. Tornado Cash pools deposits from multiple addresses, which makes the funds harder to trace.
Meanwhile, the attacker's Ethereum address held just $45 in ETH at press time, according to Arkham data.
The hacker used a vulnerability in a bridge to mint 10 million Cysic (CYS) tokens on BNB Smart Chain. Cysic then suspended the bridge and blacklisted the recipient address, which froze about 2.8 million of the newly minted tokens. The foundation said its mainnet and existing assets in user wallets were unaffected.
Later, the foundation offered the hacker a 10% bounty in exchange for returning 275.872 ETH, worth about $665,000. That amount represented roughly 90% of the identified Ether proceeds.
Cointelegraph contacted the Cysic Foundation for comment on fund recovery efforts but received no response by publication.
