Charles Schwab is adding Solana, Avalanche, and Chainlink to Schwab Crypto, moving the platform beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum. The broker expects the new assets to go live within months and plans further additions later.
The brokerage is expanding Schwab Crypto beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum by adding three altcoins to the platform. Clients will soon be able to buy and sell Solana, Avalanche, and Chainlink, with the assets expected to become available in the coming months.
According to Charles Schwab: "Clients will have more choices to build a digital asset allocation" Joe Vietri, Head of Digital Assets at Charles Schwab, said the additions give clients access to familiar cryptocurrencies backed by education, tools, and support for their broader investing goals.
The expansion follows Schwab's rollout of direct crypto trading just months earlier. Schwab Crypto charges 75 basis points per trade and lets clients manage crypto alongside traditional investments through its existing platforms.
