Bitcoin spot ETFs have seen cumulative net inflows slide to around $55 billion, down from a $63 billion peak in October 2025, after a strong late-summer rally reversed into mid-September redemptions. Meanwhile, buyers have defended a key support level near $74,713, and the share of Bitcoin futures backed by BTC itself has shrunk to a historic low.

Bitcoin's spot ETF market has pulled back. Cumulative net inflows across all US spot Bitcoin ETFs have settled around $55 billion, a retreat from the roughly $63 billion peak hit in October 2025, though still up from a trough near $50 billion.

A late-summer rally unwinds

Late August and early September brought a vigorous stretch of buying, with approximately $3.8 billion pouring into spot Bitcoin ETFs over roughly three weeks, a burst strong enough to push total assets under management past $101 billion. Then the flows reversed. Mid-September brought consecutive days of sharp redemptions, including net outflows of $296 million and $450 million on September 15 and 16.

Total Bitcoin held across all ETF products currently sits around 649,000 BTC, with net asset values fluctuating between roughly $95 billion and $103 billion depending on Bitcoin's price. That range reflects how sensitive fund valuations remain to daily price swings even as flows stabilize.

BlackRock widens its lead as Grayscale keeps bleeding

BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) continues to dominate, with cumulative inflows reportedly exceeding $63 billion on their own. Fidelity's FBTC holds second place, but Grayscale's GBTC has kept losing capital since the fund converted from a trust to an ETF, with cumulative net outflows now exceeding $27 billion as a significant portion of holders rotate into cheaper alternatives.

Buyers defend support, but resistance sits overhead

Away from the ETF market, Bitcoin buyers defended the August 21 low area and the 38.2% retracement at $74,713, pushing the price back toward $76,800. Getting above the 100-hour moving average at $76,840 and the 200-hour moving average at $77,250 would give buyers more control, opening the door toward $79,837 and then the $81,517 to $82,281 zone.

A break below the support area between $75,668 and $76,229 would put the $74,713 retracement back in play. Deeper downside levels then sit at $72,375 and $70,038.

Futures collateral risk shrinks to a record low

Beneath the price action, the derivatives market has quietly de-risked. The share of Bitcoin futures open interest that is coin-margined has fallen from roughly 70% in early 2021 to around 12% as of mid-2026, according to Glassnode data, as major venues including Binance, Bybit, and OKX shift toward stablecoin-backed contracts. Coin-margined collateral loses value alongside a falling position, which can accelerate liquidations; stablecoin-margined collateral holds its value regardless of Bitcoin's price, breaking that feedback loop.
