A 145,634,500 XRP transfer worth about $206 million emptied a labeled Uphold wallet on Sept. 14, but onchain records point to an internal custody reshuffle, not a whale exit. XRP itself hovers near $1.40 as traders await a Senate procedural vote on the CLARITY Act.
A Whale Alert That Wasn't a Whale
Onchain trackers flagged 145,634,500 XRP, worth $206,551,114, moving between wallets within 24 hours. Xrpscan labeled the sending account "Uphold (4)."
The payment settled in ledger 106,983,928 at 16:53:50 UTC, leaving about 45 XRP behind in the sending wallet.
Signs Point to an Internal Move
The receiving address carries no public label, but its short history is telling. Uphold (4) activated the wallet on May 19 with 5 XRP.
It then sent a 50 XRP test payment at 14:07 UTC on Sept. 14, before the full transfer settled at 16:53 UTC that day. The address has sent nothing out since and still holds all 145,634,555 XRP. A wallet an exchange itself opened four months earlier, then tested with a small payment, does not fit the pattern of a departing whale.
Uphold's Broader XRP Stack
The move is large, but not for Uphold. The address that received the June test ping, labeled "Uphold (12)," holds about 1,467,670,845 XRP.
That lines up with a Bitcoin.com News review in July that ranked Uphold 12th among the top 40 XRP wallets with 1.485 billion XRP. Uphold (4) has a long record of shuffling coins between sibling addresses: it received 890 million XRP from another Uphold wallet in 2022 and sent 1.1085 billion XRP back through 26 payments between March and December 2024.
Price Holds Near $1.40 Ahead of the Senate Vote
XRP ran from about $1.34 on Sept. 13 to $1.49 on Sept. 14 before settling around $1.40. Spot XRP ETFs added $18.98 million in the week ending Sept. 11.
According to Cryptonews, XRP now trades at $1.40, just below the $1.42 resistance level, with the daily pivot at $1.41 and support at $1.39, as the Senate prepares a procedural vote on the CLARITY Act.
Internal exchange transfers like this rarely signal a seller stepping back, though a flagged wallet this size still draws attention regardless of the cause.
