Shopify Earnings Date: Next Report Time and Forecasts

When Shopify’s call starts at 8:30 a.m. ET, the stock has already been trading on the numbers for an hour or more. The next Shopify earnings date is Tuesday, November 3, 2026: the company publishes Q3 2026 results before the US market opens, then hosts its conference call at 8:30 a.m. ET. By the 9:30 a.m. Nasdaq open, the pre-market has usually priced the first reaction.

Shopify confirmed the date in an investor-relations announcement on October 6. The setup is lopsided. Over the last seven reports, SHOP moved an average of 10.3% on results day. Revenue beat estimates in each of the last four, and the stock fell after three of them.

Date Tuesday, November 3, 2026
Results published Before the US market open
Conference call 8:30 a.m. ET, webcast on shopify.com/investors/events, replay afterwards
Tickers SHOP on Nasdaq and on the Toronto Stock Exchange

Shopify does not name an exact release minute, only “before markets open.” The stock trades in both New York and Toronto, and both open at 9:30 a.m. ET, so the two listings react together.

What time does Shopify report earnings?

US clocks go back on Sunday, November 1, so on report day New York runs on standard time (UTC−5). Anyone who watched the August report on summer time will find every slot below one hour later in UTC terms.

Location Conference call Nasdaq and TSX open
New York (ET) 8:30 a.m., Nov 3 9:30 a.m., Nov 3
UTC 13:30, Nov 3 14:30, Nov 3
South Africa (SAST) 15:30, Nov 3 16:30, Nov 3
Pakistan (PKT) 18:30, Nov 3 19:30, Nov 3
India (IST) 19:00, Nov 3 20:00, Nov 3

The release itself lands earlier than the call, in pre-market trading. That is the opposite of most large tech names, which report after the close and react in after-hours trading.

Shopify earnings calendar: past and upcoming dates

Shopify files its earnings release with the SEC on the morning it reports. These are the filing dates of its last seven releases, from the company’s 8-K filings on EDGAR:

Quarter Report date
Q4 2024 Tuesday, February 11, 2025
Q1 2025 Thursday, May 8, 2025
Q2 2025 Wednesday, August 6, 2025
Q3 2025 Tuesday, November 4, 2025
Q4 2025 Wednesday, February 11, 2026
Q1 2026 Tuesday, May 5, 2026
Q2 2026 Wednesday, August 5, 2026
Q3 2026 Tuesday, November 3, 2026 (confirmed)
Q4 2026 Expected around mid-February 2027 (not yet announced)

Unlike companies that stick to one weekday, Shopify moves between Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The fixed points are the timing within the quarter (about five weeks after it ends, a little longer for Q4) and the pre-market slot. Shopify announced this quarter’s date four weeks ahead, so treat any February 2027 date on a calendar site as an estimate.

What’s in a Shopify earnings report

Shopify’s business is software for merchants, but most of its revenue comes from processing their payments. The report splits the two, and the split explains most of the margin debate.

  • Gross merchandise volume (GMV): the total value of orders placed through Shopify merchants. It was $115.6 billion in Q2 2026, up 32% from a year earlier. GMV is the volume that the rest of the report monetises.
  • Merchant solutions revenue: mostly Shopify Payments fees, plus lending, shipping and other services. $2.78 billion in Q2 2026, up 37%. It grows faster than the rest and carries a lower margin.
  • Subscription solutions revenue: plan fees, apps and themes. $802 million, up 22%.
  • Monthly recurring revenue (MRR): the subscription run rate, $221 million at the end of Q2 2026 against $185 million a year earlier.
  • Gross profit and operating income: gross profit grew 31%, slower than revenue’s 34%, because of the shift towards payments. Operating income rose 68% to $488 million.
  • Free cash flow margin: the figure Shopify guides to every quarter. It was 18% in Q2 2026, up from 16%.

All Q2 figures come from the Q2 2026 earnings release filed with the SEC. One trap: Shopify’s GAAP net income ($1.5 billion in Q2) swings with the value of its stakes in other companies, so the company also reports net income excluding equity investments ($439 million). Check which one a headline quotes, and see GAAP vs non-GAAP for why the gap matters. For a general walk-through of a release, see the guide on how to read an earnings report.

What to expect from Shopify’s Q3 2026 earnings

Company guidance

Shopify does not give a dollar range. Its guidance comes as growth rates and ratios. For Q3 2026, the August release set these markers:

Metric Q3 2026 guidance Q3 2025 actual, for comparison
Revenue growth, year on year Low-thirties percentage 32% ($2.84bn)
Gross profit growth, year on year Mid-to-high twenties percentage n/a
Operating expenses, % of revenue 33% to 34% n/a
Stock-based compensation $150 million n/a
Free cash flow margin High-teens to low-twenties 18%

Applied to Q3 2025 revenue of $2.84 billion (as reported by BetaKit), growth of 30% to 33% works out to about $3.70 billion to $3.78 billion. Note the gap between the revenue and gross-profit guides: Shopify itself expects gross profit to grow several points slower than revenue, so a narrowing gross margin on the night is planned, not a surprise.

Consensus

As of mid-October 2026, analysts expect revenue of about $3.74 billion, according to Fiscal.ai data cited by BigGo Finance and Benzinga. That is growth of about 31.5%, inside the company’s range. EPS estimates differ by provider: $0.46 at TipRanks, $0.45 at Zacks (as reported by Yahoo Finance) and $0.43 at Benzinga.

Metric Q1 2026 actual Q2 2026 actual Q3 2026 consensus
Revenue $3.17bn (+34%) $3.58bn (+34%) about $3.74bn (about +31.5%)
GMV $100.7bn (+35%) $115.6bn (+32%) n/a
Free cash flow margin 15% 18% guided high-teens to low-twenties
Adjusted EPS n/a $0.42 $0.43 to $0.46

Q1 figures are from the Q1 2026 release; the Q2 adjusted EPS of $0.42 (against $0.40 expected) is from the Investing.com earnings summary. Consensus moves daily, so check it again on the morning.

The pattern behind those numbers: Shopify guides cautiously and beats. In May it guided Q2 revenue growth to a “high-twenties” rate and delivered 34%. In February it guided Q1 to low-thirties and delivered 34%. A Q3 print at 31% would match the company’s guide and still read as a disappointment against that track record.

How SHOP stock reacts to earnings

Because results arrive before the open, the cleanest measure is the change from the prior day’s close to the close on report day. Figures below are calculated from Yahoo Finance historical prices.

Report date Quarter Prior close Report-day close Move
Feb 11, 2025 Q4 2024 $119.90 $123.59 +3.1%
May 8, 2025 Q1 2025 $94.50 $94.00 −0.5%
Aug 6, 2025 Q2 2025 $127.00 $154.90 +22%
Nov 4, 2025 Q3 2025 $172.94 $160.94 −6.9%
Feb 11, 2026 Q4 2025 $127.24 $118.71 −6.7%
May 5, 2026 Q1 2026 $127.55 $107.63 −15.6%
Aug 5, 2026 Q2 2026 $123.30 $144.24 +17%

Three up, four down, and an average move of 10.3% in either direction. The falls are the instructive part, because revenue beat in each of the last three:

  • Q3 2025. Revenue of $2.84 billion beat the FactSet consensus of $2.73 billion, and GMV topped $92 billion against $87.4 billion expected. The stock still lost 6.9%, from a price near its high at the time.
  • Q4 2025. Another revenue beat, but guidance put the Q1 free cash flow margin in the “low-to-mid teens, slightly below Q1 of 2025.” Margin guidance came in below expectations as Shopify spent on AI, and the market was already sceptical of software stocks, according to Finviz.
  • Q1 2026. Revenue of $3.17 billion beat the $3.09 billion estimate. Transaction and loan losses rose to 3.7% of revenue from 3.2% a year earlier, according to Investing.com, and the stock closed 15.6% lower.

Then August reversed it. Revenue of $3.58 billion against $3.45 billion expected, and a Q3 guide of low-thirties growth, sent SHOP up 17% on the day. The stock kept going and closed at $173.46 on October 20, 2026, about 41% above the pre-report close of $123.30.

That run changes what November has to prove. In May, the stock had already fallen and the bar was low. Now it sits near where it stood before the 6.9% drop of November 2025. Options pricing reflects the risk: the at-the-money straddle for the first expiry after the report shows the market’s expected move, and it shrinks once the numbers are out (the IV crush). Check it on the day rather than relying on an old snapshot; implied volatility moves with the stock.

What could move Shopify stock after earnings

  • Revenue growth against 31.5%. Consensus sits in the middle of the guide. Shopify has delivered 34% in each of the last two quarters, so the market is likely to want a figure at or above the top of the low-thirties range.
  • The Q4 outlook. Q4 includes the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend. The growth rate and free cash flow margin guided for Q4 matter more than the Q3 numbers already in the past.
  • Gross profit against revenue. Payments growth widens the gap between the two. If gross profit grows faster than the “mid-to-high twenties” guide, the margin worry recedes; slower, and it returns.
  • Operating expenses at 33% to 34% of revenue. Q1 2026 was guided at 37% to 38% and Q2 at 35% to 36%, so the guided ratio has stepped down each quarter. A reading above 34% would break that path.
  • Losses in payments and lending. The rise in transaction and loan losses drove the May sell-off. The number sits in the cost lines, not the headline, and it is where a beat-and-fall is most likely to start.
  • AI spending and AI sales. Shopify’s spending on AI weighed on the margin guide in February. Any figures on orders placed through AI shopping assistants are the other side of that bet, and the call is where they come out.

How to prepare for Shopify earnings

  1. Set the clock for the morning, not the evening. The numbers arrive before 9:30 a.m. ET (14:30 UTC) on November 3. If your routine is built around after-close reporters, this one runs on a different schedule.
  2. Write down three numbers. Revenue consensus of about $3.74 billion, the guided free cash flow margin (high-teens to low-twenties), and the opex ratio ceiling of 34%.
  3. Read the outlook section first. Revenue has beaten estimates in each of the last four reports, so a beat alone tells you little; the Q4 guide carries the new information.
  4. Then check gross profit and transaction losses. Both have explained more of the recent sell-offs than headline revenue.
  5. Size for a gap at the open. Three of the last seven reactions were larger than 15%. A stop order placed before the release can fill well beyond its level if the stock opens far from the prior close.
